Default file browsing speed

I have a BLT which seems to be very slow at browsing from one page of files or folders to the next whether using the software server or my Terastation. Every move to the next folder or page of files involves a few seconds whilst a series of white dots tick by in the lh corner of the display. I also have a roku which is in contrast pc fast.

Can anyone comment on how the Snazio compares in this respect?
Does it have more horsepower than the BLT.

Thanks Peter

It's based on the same chip and FW developer so i think it will be the same. Speed
when we test is is certainly not a few seconds, more like a sec or less... The dots in the
corner shows progress and indeed in some cases like setup, this can take 2 seconds or
three... not with filebrowsing though, but egreed, it's not as fast as a PC... it does not have a Pentium4 internal

Enjoy

Thanks for the info.

I am probably exaggerating with a few seconds, rather a clear delay of the type you don't see on modern pcs.

There is a delay, but I think that's mainly because it's reading the information over the network. I imagine if you have a USB2 HDD attached to it, the file browsing speed would be much better (but I don't have one to try at the moment).

Just tried a usb2 disk but the delay is just the same so it appears to be a limitation of the hardware.

Default Snazio file browsing vs Kiss

As mentioned elsewhere I think the Snazzio file browsing is way too slow. Scrolling up or down a page takes 5 secs to load the new data. I have a dp-558 which was much much quicker. As much as I hate to say anything good about kiss it is much better than the snazio here. And it is the same files i am pointing it to.

Now imagine owning a Snazio NAS storage device. (Which i am thinking about). The idea of owning one of these is to store all your movies and music etc. I have 100 DIvX movies at the mo. If you had 200 on a NAS it would take ages to find the right film by scrolling down by page. 5 sec a page and 15 pages maybe....75 secs. Yes you can use the number search but that is trial and error as you don't know what number films starting with S are at! I can't see why the Snazio can stream vob files as original film but can't load a page with a list of 10 films on in under 5 secs!

Just on tp :

To avoid losing time browsing your huge libraries organize them by alphabetical order with subfolders directly on your computer or on your USB device

It was really disturbing me before and now within a few seconds i can find the good file.

Hope it can help !

With Music, all artists are in a folder, the albums in a sub folder and the songs in the relevant sub folders. Each page change (up or down) takes 5 secs. Not good.....

My organisation :
4 main folders :
International
National
Classical
Compilations

Under national and International :
about 15 alphabetical folders (a-b c-e etc ...)

Then one folder by artists and subfolders with albums and then titles

It's not taking 5 seconds to navigate from one folder to his subfolder at all and i find it very convinient for browsing.

I would have prefered another solution (no time between going from on page to another) but at the moment it's the best i've found ...
