Apologies if this topic has already been covered, but am I right in thinking the DP-1500 will only play widescreen AVI movies in a 4:3 letterbox on a 16:9 TV?

I recently bought one of these players with the expectation that it would play these files in "true" widescreen (just like my £30 Yamada DVX-6600 did).

I can of course cure this by using my TV's "Zoom" function, but this is hardly the point and it does lose quality. Surely it can't be difficult to scale the movie the the full height of the screen (maybe adding smaller horizontal bars as necessary, for example in 2.38:1 etc movies) and then set the widescreen pin on the SCART?

Help! I really wanted a networked player that could do this, and this was about the only option as far as I could see!

well ... thats the way all KiSS players works and they piss on any request to change it.

that's really crap - hmm, my 2 week old DP-1500 might be finding it's way back where it came from... or eBay of course!
