Default DVD-playback loses HDMI-signal

Hi,

first: Great forum! Kudos to Hi-Jack!

My problem:
Whenever I try to play a DVD (original) in my DP-600 my Receiver loses the HDMI-signal. If I stop the playback, the HDMI-signal comes back and the menu is shown on screen.

I've connected the DP-600 to my receiver (Pioneer VSX-AX4-AVis) with HDMI and then use a HDMI-cable to my Pioneer PDP-506XDE. Streaming (WLAN) works fine, both WMV-HD (sound issues) and .avi (no issues) but not DVD-playback...

Solutions ?

*EDIT* This problem only occurs on original-DVD's, not DVD+R

Hi Bobby...

This means your TV is not equped with HDCP.
HDCP is required for watching commercial DVD in high resolution.
(You can bypass this by copying the DVD on another DVD (DVD Shrink or
DVD Decryptor) and use the backup for playback. Both programs remove
the protection from the DVD.

That sounds strange as all products with HDMI-connectors should be HDCP-compliant.

Am I and every forum I've read wrong ?

Your plasma does for sure have HDCP on its hdmi input. Connect the DP-600 direct to the plasma and it will work, otherwise something is not working as it should. Your problem probably occur because of problems with the "HDCP-handshake" through your receiver.

Strange that a handshake problem can occur between a Pioneer Receiver and a Pioneer Plasma-TV....

Any suggestions how to solve without connecting the DP-600 directly to my TV ?

Did not read the part you connected through a receiver...
In that case, it's indeed the handshake going wrong but not necessarily
between receiver and TV. Might also be the KISS that has trouble with it.

Try 1080p setting if your TV supports it.
That's the most stable one on KiSS for now. There are some issues with
HDMI signals in other resolutions like 1080i, which do not bring the
connection up when the player is started. You then need to enter the setup
and reactivate HDMI by selecting it again...

But the connection works with both 720p and 1080i when I start the player. And it works with Windows Media Connect, but as soon I start playing a DVD the screen goes black....

I'll try 1080p and see what happens...
