Default Network problems. Dp-1500, lovely piece of hardware but....

hi all

Now, let me start this by mentining that IŽve tried to find the solution here and all around the web but with no luck.
So no matter how hard this blow will be to my self-esteem I am without any further options.
IŽve even read the manual! Now you all know how that can be for a man?
And I assume that the answer is so simple it will make me weep when i read it.

Oki here goes.
I just got my DP-1500 today. Everything works like a charm except the PC-link.
.I have a ordinary Dlink DI-604 4x100 router connected to internet (and my PC to the router IŽd better add) and it works just fine. No problems with that part.
.So I connect the Dp-1500 to the routerwith the RJ45, I follow the manual by typing the IP-adress into the DP-1500 192.168.000.102 and what happens? Absolutely nothing. The player refuses to find any host.
.Is it the firewall on the router that hinders me?
.I have no software firewalls as ZoneAlarm on my PC.

What on earth am I missing here? Any ideas anyone???

Thanks!!
/Bliss

So what do I do?

If you enter the IP address on the KiSS also add:

Subnet Mask
Default Gateway

For example, check on your pc...
Click Start and then Run
Type CMD and hit enter
Then type ipconfig /all

You will get a list of IP's used
Find the following and write them down:

IP Addres: 192.168.000.001
Subnet Mask: 255.255.254.0
Default Gateway 192.168.000.001 (or nothing)

Now on the KiSS in Network setup:
IP Address: 192.168.000.102 (or whatever in the same range)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.254.0
Default Gateway 192.168.000.001 (or nothing)

On the KiSS in PC-Link setup: enter the address of the PC
IP Address: 192.168.000.001

After you did that, restart the player just in case
Then on your PC again...

Click Start and then Run
Type CMD and hit enter
Then type ping 192.168.000.102 (address you gave KiSS PLayer)

You should get a reply with the IP Address unless you get blocked.

Aaah. This I definetely have to try when I get home from work.
But let me just ask:
>>>Now on the KiSS in Network setup:
IP Address: 192.168.000.102 (or whatever in the same range)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.254.0
Default Gateway 192.168.000.001 (or nothing) >>>

.Does this mean that a properly adjusted Kiss will appear as a network device in my network?
. To be able to edit the subnet mask a.s.o I have to switch the DHCP "off" in the Kiss setup. I thought that was for setting up your player without a router (at least that is what the manual says). But it is Ok to do this even thhough I use a router?

I really, really appreciate your help!

DHCP or Fixed IP can be used regardless of router or not.
Best practice is using fixed ip

Nope, IŽve been trying to get this to work but with no such luck. But IŽve contacted the Kiss-support. Wich I must add are extremely helpful.
Anyway, they suggested that IŽll check my network cables first. So IŽll do that when Iget home.
But the person aI talked to mention that there could be some glitch with W2K. GuessIŽll have to call them again if the cable turns out to be correct.

Seems like I am the only one who has this problem. Either the player is in need of repair or IŽm just dumb. The latter being the most logical explanation.
Anyway. Now I have tried with three different cables and thereŽs not a single packet being transferred to my DP-1500. No matter how I set it up I get no response by a "ping".

But one thing struck me as odd. The display at the front of the Dp-1500 shows "DP-1505". Anyone who knows if this is what it is supposed to say? Seems strange as there is clearly no Dp-1505 around.
Any ideas what this could be?

DP-1505 sure sounds weird...
Try updating player with recently released 2.8.5 version for DP-1504 ...
It's about all i can think of...

In last instance, you can call KiSS tomorrow...

Ah, the DP-1505-problem is solved. It is supposed to say DP-150S, but as the display i made up of small dots (I havenŽt got a clue what it is called) it shows the "S" as a "5"
