I tested the new RD last weekend. First of all - it works great! Web-frontend is very nice and there are more features than in the old stage2. My favorite: possibility to edit scheduled recordings (add extra time, choose recording quality, ...)
Two things I noticed that have changed (at my DP-55 :
First: The unit starts to store the records in folders randomly. Until now only the "Favorite shows" where stored in folders, "normal" recordings in the root of PVR, regardless of programming via PC or with the unit itself. I will take a further look at it.
Second: Yesterday I tried to copy some movies with CuteFTP to my PC. And the network speed was very slow. There were no interrups or significant changes in speed. It was only very slow. With old stage2 I had 10-11 mbs and with stage2_rd CuteFTP shows only 5,6 mbs. And it takes double time to copy the files. Any idea? What will I do: cold reboot the player, play the "Enable/disable the ftp client" game at the 558 and test some other ftp-programs at my PC.

test sofar
Hi guys,
My experience with RD:
- My connection type seems to have changed when doing a partial update to RGB Scart. Workaround was to change it manually in setup menu.
- FTP speed now yields almost 2MBit on average - Great!
- HTML interface is very neat - anything is now possible 8O
Everything else works as it should (so no bugs introduced..).
Regards ankere

Same with WS_FTP. Why the hell there are so many differences in ftp-clients. Will try TotalCommander now. Here is my personal history:
* fw 1.1.3: CuteFTP -- / WS_FTP ++
* fw 1.1.4 stage2: CuteFTP ++ / WS_FTP --
* fw 1.1.4 stage2RD: CuteFTP -- / WS_FTP --

The ftp should be the same (same ftp program , almost same kernel)
but if you do a ftp be sure to put your player in standby and NOT in the menu (but that’s the same with the original firmware)

Yes this fact I did already know. The "put ftp on/of game" made it better, but i think it's about 10% less speed. But what are 10% from the lightspeed of a KiSS ethernet connection

My application to convert text to KML code is soon ready (finally) for some tests.
Description:
Converts a text in a INPUT file to KML (KiSS markup language) code. This application will only make one KML page, so it will only be able to convert the first 20 rows. The KML page is only able to show 70 characters, so this applicatin will cut away the rest of the row. To squeze in more text on every row, you can use the trim option (by using -t option).
A demo (today it don't put in real KML code, just test text as I don't have the real code with me):
Code:
\dev> t
\dev> "\storage card\pgcc\bin\gcc" \dev\txt2kml.ver0.15.c -target=con -o \dev\tx
t2kml.exe -Wl,-s
\dev>
\dev> txt2kml
*** Can't open the INPUT file with data!!!
Usage: txt2kml -i <file> ([option]... <file> or <URL>...)
Description:
Converts a text in a INPUT file to KML (KiSS markup language) code.
This application will only make one KML page, so it will only be able to
convert the first 20 rows. The KML page is only able to show 70
characters, so this applicatin will cut away the rest of the row.
To squeze in more text on every row, you can use the trim option (by
using -t option).
Options:
--help Display this information
-i <file> INPUT file, use <file> as input = REQUIRED!
-o <file> OUTPUT file, place the output into <file>.
If not used, the output file will have
the same name as INPUT file, but with the
extension .htm (e.g. <file>.htm).
-t Trim away "white space" characters from INPUT file.
-u <URL> URL on "Back" link in OUTPUT file KML code.
Default is "index.htm".
-v Verbose mode.
-l <integer> Lenght of KML rows (widht of screen). Default is 70.
-r <integer> Number of rows that will be copied from INPUT
file. Default is 20.
\dev> txt2kml -i file-ps -v -l 20 -t -u /htmlroot/kml/linux/index.htm -o ps.htm
INPUT file = file-ps
OUTPUT file = ps.htm
Trim white noice = YES
URL link = /htmlroot/kml/linux/index.htm
Verbose mode = YES
Length of rows = 20
Number of rows = 20
This is saved to OUTPUT file ps.htm:

I'm out of town right now, so I have not tested it on my 558 yet (I have done all coding on my PocketPC, and the demo text is also from my Qtek s100 ).
