Default Why does my DP-558 not like its on VOB files????

Hi There,

I am stuck with a curious problem, which I can't understand, let alone explain what is happening here.

Picture this:
I upgraded my DP-558 harddrive from a 80 to a 250 GB disk, but on the old disc there were still some recordings I had not seen yet.
So, I put the old HD into a external disc casing, rebooted my PC in Linux mode using the newest knoppix, and started FTP-ing stuff over in BIN mode (VOB and IDX files).

The wierd thing happens that the files are there on the disc of my DP-558, I can see them, the FTP transfer does not give any errors/warnings but when playing them, it looks like I am watching a powerpoint. The video freezes all the time, but the sound continues.

The recordings I have made straight on the new disc are good, so I figure that the HD itself cannot be the problem.

Is there something missing in the FTP transfer perhaps? I will do a test later with FTP-ing a recently recorded VOB file to my PC and then put it back on the DP-558 harddrive to see if that causes any problems.
It does not make a difference if I put the files in the PVR or the VIDEO folder, b.t.w.

Anyone familiar with this problem?

Thanx,
Pat.

I don't have a solution to your problem. But if you just want to watch your recorded programs you could also use FreeKiss, which allows you to stream a vob-file from pc to DP-558.

Problem solved?

I hope you are not trying to watch them while you are transferring some others, because that don't work because of the slow hardware in your unit.
