at Top Speed. (These drives have 5 year warranty)

www.planet-shop.nl! On purchase, you will receive an Invoice including
shipping costs depending on your country before any payments are made.
MPC is full of "NO" surprises!!

Off course, anyone can directly purchase from www.planet-shop.nl (Dutch).
For International customers MPC will serve in between to make

Hi Hi-Jack,

Are the 750 GB drives from the NL35 series or Barracuda ES?

On Seagate's website, they mention the NL35 series to range from 250 GB to 500 GB storage capacity and being replaced by Barracuda ES hard drives ranging from 250 GB to 750 GB storage capacity.

Thanks,
Olivier

HJ,

Any idea of what it would cost to ship a NV+4x750GB to Slovenia (Ljubljana)?

What size box are we talking about? What kind of weight? AAre the shipments insured?

Weight would be arround 10kg, shipping cost around 25 euro...
It can varry but that is why you get an invoice before you buy

The 750GB disks are NL35 series according to the provider yesterday but i
will double check... Might indeed be ES versions which are equally good and
performant...

Update coming up as soon as i get a hold of him...

Thanks HJ,

Can you also check on the insurance of these shipments.. I would hate to see €2000 go up in smoke!

Also does any one know if there is a hacked FW available for the NAS? reason is that I have a DP-558 which ofcourse is not uPnP compatible, so I can not use the uPnP video streamer on the Ready NV.. I need something like the dp500serv program which I currently run on my NSLU2 to stream media to the 558.

I could always still use the NSLU2 to stream a network drive on the Ready NAS to the 558 but that seem like such a waste!

Anyone?

Also, what about the 2TB limit I have been reading about.. I understand they were going to fix this isn an upcomming release.. do you know if it is available already?

And last but not least, with 4x750Mb using RAID-X you will get 2.25Tb.. Correct?

The upcoming release is version 3 and it should expand the volume. You
can follow the Beta info on www.infrant.com forums. they are pretty detailed
in updates and fixes

750GB is ES series indeed (which is refered to as NL35.3)
Insurance for shipping is off course included in shipping of these high value
devices. Extra assurance is usually also available for a couple more euro.
Not to worry there, we make proper agreements with our partners before
anything is shipped (by writing) as it's never bad to be safe.

Enjoy
Hi-Jack

Update!

UPS ensurance.
All packages are ensured up to 90 Euro and only 1% get's lost. In such
cases, our partners are in direct contact with UPS managers for solutions
which almost in all cases are closed with a good solution.

If you have serious doubts or you are afraid, you can ensure the shipping
for 1% of the total value. It will then be refunded / replaced when it get's
lost without the whole procedure wrapped around it.

Standard HDD delivered is Barracuda ES in all units. Availability of these
drives is low, so if these are not available you have the options to choose
NL35.2 drives or wait for the Barracuda's to become available.

Hope it's more clear now. Even I get confused

HJ,

Thnaks again for the info...

I think I will have to hold our for a while though..

I have been looking at the forums, and the next version of the FW (3.0) should be out "very soon"... being a KiSS customer I know what that mean.. Only joking... it appears that Infrant has a very capable and active support team.

I will definiiltly get one if and when:
1) 3.0 is out which is supposed to handle the 75'GB drives (the current BETA can use them, but only 690GB of each drive)...
2) There is SSH root access to the machine.. I need to install the dp500serv server to service my dp558

So it is wait and see for the moment.
