Default Mo' Money, Mo' Problems! New Copy Protection!

This is an article you can't miss if you want to know how your rights as a consumer are vanishing more and more every day while those who limit your rights are rewarded with mo' money and leave you with mo' problems. This new system however will seriously piss off consumers and I wonder, as many, when we finally say "enough is enough" and stop buying that crap. It basically comes down to the fact you will in the future "license" a DVD instead of owning it. A very interesting article about the past protection systems can be read "here"! Once you read that article, read this one: Right Here! I never made use of it, but torrent and other 'illegal' ways to get stuff commense starting to sound interesting to me too now...

STOP abusing our rights to DEFEND yours!
That's all I have to say about it. I for sure will stop buying any content if not soon an end comes to this madness.

It's sick that they will try this... but hey when region codes where introduced it took some time to bypass it... when microsoft introduced wmvdrm it took at lot less time -- how long do you think it will take to bypass this... hours?....

This is the biggest flaw in the whole argument. The people who are wearing the black eye masks, stripy jumpers and carrying a bag with Swag written on it are exactly the people who will have a couple of minutes / hours / days waiting for a crack and then will just rip the stuff anyway. The more average 'normal' user is the one who just wants to play stuff that he/she has bought will be the ones with the inconvenience.
The day before this becomes the Law and punishable by death or just becomes 'impossible to crack' will be the day with the biggest sales of electronic equipment in the history of mankind. I'll just stock up on DVD players etc. so that I can continue to do what I want to do with my property.

...embedding RFID chips in every DVD produced, enabling them to track the disc from the factory to the store to your home.
Complete bullshit and utter scaremongering. There's no way to geographically track these RFID chips.

You are making my point... The time has passed that people simply accept what the big companies are doing ('for our best') If this is the new standard for copy protection the common people will not accept this... look at the TV adapters with Broadcast Flag protection it failed... (and there are a lot more examples)
The record companies keep on telling us that they lost revenue since the Internet has become a medium to share music... Then take a look at there year figures since for example '95 they keep on makeing more money every year... It's the VCR discussion all over again the only difference is that because of the Internet people will not accept it anymore...

RFID....hmmmm.......Licences.....Now thats the real issue.

Its not to far from a post I made some time ago, regarding the issue.

In essence the content providers, the hardware vendors and the delivery infrastructures they utilise are gearing up to take the "owner" out of the sales agreement.

Why Sell product when you can sell words.

Its almost the case with Sky Satellite in the UK, you buy a nice shiney box but if you don't pay the monthly subscription, the box is useless in less than 24 hours.

Microsoft, Sony et all would love that control. Games and Content that don't play unless you pay your rent....but its not rent its a licence you bought the rights to play or watch with Caveats but you never owned the content nor are they responsible for the box you buy, or do you even buy that.

It won't be long before a XBox or a PS or even a PC will come in at a price of £299....yet you bought a licence for WUS, Xbox Live etc with a yearly subscription..... Lets face it. If its connected it can be disabled and enable and you don't need a ethernet cable or Phone or LNB to do that.

We thought the days of the coin operated TV were gone, na they just changed the shape of the Coin. !

The issue is not how you bypass something. I agree thats a no brainer.

But the legality of tampering with something you own is one thing, tampering with something you do not own is something else.

At the moment the PC, Xbox, PS are geared to tolerate hackers. Back doors and hacks are all well and good, but you don't expect to be arrested for having a hacked box...all it will take is a something akin to NDS in sky boxes hard wired into your TV, your PVR your Computer and your PC. It does matter what hacks you do (NDS has never been cracked by the way after >5 Years.), that if you don't pay your monthly licence renewal, over the air/internet/mains/telephone, off it all goes. Oh (not connected isn't allowed) and off it goes again after 2 months without a new key)

This will be the normal for Mum Dad, Granddad, Grandma....etc.....Geeks might find a way but 99% of people will pay rather than have nothing.

Its a cash cow......and we are the feed trough.

On RFID.....

I don't think RFID is intend to track objects....its intended to track us.

Where did you go, which camera did u pass, which shop / mosque or terror cell did you visit.

RFID is a fingerprint.....one that you eat, wear and step on to leave a trail. Its the ultimate in Human control......for law abiding, westeners....

Black Bags around head at the ready.

The irony is, why do they let us watch movies/Books like 1984, Brave New World and even more recently Brazil and V for Vendetta.

Because they need us to believe it, hero's die or not and the world is saved again. There is no conspiracy.....its easier and simplier to accept the truth.

The Illusion is that we care. We are to affraid to care. Sweet Dreams
