First look for the DVD DSrive model in your KiSS.
Then use the model of your DVD Drive to search these forums. There's
thousands of posts about it...

can i check the drive as for the DP558 model as you described in another
thread :
- Power on the player!
- Press Eject - Return - 2 - 7 - 6
- You will now be in the hidden menu.
- Check thre DVD Drive in your player.

thanks

Yes that's right. To enter the hidden menu Press Eject - Return (back) - 2 - 7 - 6. I have a VR-558 300Gb and to make it a region-free player I had to open my machine and connect the DVD drive to my PC to patch it. So which means that I lost the warranty, but I don't regret it...

i found thousand of threads adressing how to patch my VR-558
with DR2012C KS00
this is hard to conclude whether or not it works or not since lots of differents opinions, conclusions, adv and cons...

according to http://kiss.rpc1.org/, sounds like there is an easy way to turn all
TOSHIBA based drive region free without opening the player :

1/ prepare a CD with an iso image available here :
http://kiss.rpc1.org/iso/rpc1.zip

2/ insert the CD into the player. it will upgrade the DVD-ROM firmware and
basically this is it !

sounds too easy to me. any recent experience ?
