Hi,

I replaced my drive with a SH-D162C and flashed it with the Hijacker patched TS04 RPC1.

Note: there are differences between the two SD-M2012C and SH-D162C

http://filesfly.com/f/64caab31d0_0.09MB (SD-M2012C)

http://www.samsungoms-europe.com/sam...62&group=cdrom

now everything plays fine, but drive still abit noisey.

I did the same and replaced the original SD-M2012 with a SH-D162C and patched it with TS04 RPC1. I could watch a DVD+R DL while the drive was still IDE attached with my PC. After I have connected the drive with my DP-600 and inserted the same disc it did not playback the disc. I tried it with the old firmware Version 3.0.25 and the current firmware 3.0.34! Can someone please help.

Tried my "old" DVD burner LG GSA-4167B and it worked! But it was still not possible to playback DVD+R DL Now I believe it must be the Firmware of the player that prevents the Dual Layer discs from playback!

Yes I did - Nero Info says also it is a DVD-ROM
It is strange why does the PC with this dvd-drive (SH-D162C) plays back the DVD-ROM and after I have attached it to the DP-600 this drive does NOT play it back :wtf:

Default making liteon lownoise

Hey,

When using the liteon DVD and you want to change the read speed you can use the following link :

http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html

Here it is possible to download a firmware, that can be modified,
you then need OmniPatcher, can be downloaded at the same homepage
http://codeguys.rpc1.org/patchers.html.

With omnipatcher you create a new firmware for the dvd drive, where it is possible change drivespeed, readspeed.

After this you write firmware to DVD drive.

Now just install drive in player, you now have a lownoise dvd player from kiss

Hope you get it to work !!!, I DID .-)

I just wanted to know, is it possible to replace the DVD drive in the Kiss
with a HD-DVD or a Blue-Ray drive? Has anyone attempted this yet?

The question is really, does the Kiss firmware use high-level or low-level access to the drive, so could you just install a HD DVD drive with drivers and the Kiss firmware not know the difference, or would a total rewrite of the firmware be required?

Is there one which the front bezil just clip on and look at the reat of the threads it seem the liteon a good choice the only one i can fine is the SHD-16PIS

The other thing is some one said that the toshida SD-M1612 has auto speed ajust will this be better than changing the firmware

I used a hot screwdriver heated with a lighter, to shape the dvd drawer front so i match the notches on the front panel from the Kiss. Nad i could just click it on. It is an easy job, took at maximum 10 minutes.

Default HD-DVD player & Kiss DP-600 ???

@ rockhead

It seems, that anyone has ever tested this.

Do the Blu-Ray players work together with DP-600 is the second question now.

And if not INSIDE the DP-600, what happens connecting the Blu-Ray using an external USB 2.0 drive-box ? Is the USB 2.0 data-rate fast enough ?

I think, we have to wait until the new HDready DVD-players become better prices. Over 400,- Euros is tooo expensive

I'e changed many Toshiba drives found in KiSS players to Samsung SH-D162C and all players work very well. Even the front bezel fits perfectly. I've done it to DP-450, DP-1000 and DP-1500. In DP-600 Toshiba SD-M2012 is used it should be no problem since Samsung SH-D162C is identical to SD-M2012. Samsung has bought Toshiba Optical Storage company

If you want silent drive install speed-reduced firmware into it. It can be found here http://hijacker.rpc1.org/toshiba/index.php?path=KiSS/. Download M2012C_KS00.zip or M2012C_XS00_RPC1.zip (region free) firmware.

Open a dos window and start sftdnwin with nocheck parameter - "sfdnwin.exe - nocheck".

Then you will get a check box in the left corner of the sftdnwin program that you should use and then the firmware will flash without the error.

BTW you can install this speed-reduced firmware in original Toshiba SD-M2012 drive.
